a few a lot of guilty pleasures. Some of them are truly guilty pleasures and some could be classified more as embarrassing pleasures. Or even pleasures I don’t advertise but feel neither guilt nor embarrassment over.
I take no-guilt pleasure in chocolate. A lot of people do. Nothing embarrassing about that. But every time I go to the grocery store I buy myself a candy bar and eat it on the way home so I don’t have to share with the boys. I feel a little guilty about that. To take it to the next level though I must admit that most of the time it’s not one candy bar. It’s a King Size Kit Kat and a York Peppermint Patty and a Dr. Pepper and I eat them both on the drive. Now that’s a guilty AND an embarrassing pleasure.
A pleasure that would be classified, in my mind, as neither guilty or embarrassing but not advertised would be the joy I find in listening to reggaeton. Except maybe it’s slightly embarrassing that the pasty white girl that I am rocks out to latin rap/reggae. I love it though. There used to be a good reggaeton station here in the Dallas area but it disappeared and now when I get the hankering for it I have to Google You Tube vids on my commute. I don’t actually watch the videos…I just plug in my ear buds and head bob all the way home. Which is exactly what I did yesterday. Now before you go blaming this on my Latin Lover you should know that he doesn’t particularly enjoy that type of music. He’s more of a tejano and country music lover. I developed this reggaeton love all on my own. Don’t have any idea what I’m referring to? Here is one example. Please be aware that I have no idea what’s on the video or even what the song is about since most of them are in Spanish. I just enjoy them the way I hear them.
Don Omar – Dale Don Dale
This song however I love for no other reason but because it makes me laugh every stinking time I hear it. You cannot go to any type of fiesta where they have a DJ or music going where you don’t hear this song. I WILL throw a party one day where this song will be played. It’s officially on my bucket list. I call it the “Beep Song”. Listen and you’ll see why.
