That’s what Jimmy told me last night when he took a little bite of pea salad. This child. Where on earth did he learn that? He pointed at it on his plate and without trying it said it was good but he didn’t want it. I told him he had to at least take one bite. So he agreed just “so you’ll be happy”. Then he chewed it while obviously trying not to let it touch his tongue all the while smiling and nodding as if it was the most delicious thing he’d ever tasted. He did ask for another bite (he couldn’t load his fork sufficiently himself) but then decided he was done.
I speared a couple of mayonaise-y peas and fed them to Joey and he ate them with gusto. Then later when Ricardo fed him a bigger bite his face seized up and he made short jerking motions with his head as if he had a sudden case of Bitter Beer Face…or lockjaw.
Lilly on the other hand does suffer from Bitter Beer Face with everything she eats. Bits of fried potato – Check. Rice – Check. Beans – Check. Garden mix puree – Check. I will endeavor to capture the hilarity on video before she gets anymore teeth and ruins the effect.
Life is rolling along and we’re 12 days away from Lil Liliana being 9 months old which means we’re 3 months and 12 days away from her first birthday. Incredible. Impossible! The house is really coming along and I’ll try to share some more Before and After pictures with you soon. We now have running water in the house, have the gas on so we can have hot water and use the stove and have the washer and dryer hooked up so I can do laundry at home again. Not sure what else we need to be honest. Our own bedroom and a completed kitchen just seem like shameful luxuries at this point.
Let there be fire…
I’ll tell you though I wouldn’t give up the two months of hauling water, “showering” out of a 5 gallon bucket and cooking on a propane burner. I only wish the kids were old enough to remember this “adventure”.
Making spaghetti before the gas was turned on.
I almost forgot! Lilly pulled up, with a little assistance from me, for the first time last night!
I’ve had a small transformation myself. I’ve gotten my braces off and have had a hair cut and gotten some highlights. I feel like a brand new woman.
Old and New
So that’s the update. I’ll try to be a little more consistent about writing now, we’ll see how it goes.
